Climate Action
The Parliamentary Agreement of the 10th Legislative Assembly sets out the ACT Government’s ambitious agenda for addressing climate change to continue to lead the way as the renewable energy capital of Australia.
The ACT Government will build on the achievement of 100% renewable electricity by taking the next steps necessary to reduce our city’s greenhouse gas emissions while supporting all Canberra households through the necessary transition.
This includes:
- Phasing out fossil-fuel-gas in the ACT by 2045 at the latest
- Supporting energy grid stability and vulnerable households
- Increasing the number of zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) in the ACT
- Reforming the ACT’s building and planning systems to ensure a transition to best practice climate-ready and environmentally sustainable buildings and planning.
